Privacy Policy
We understand and respect the fact that privacy is important to our users. Therefore, we created this privacy policy to communicate how we collect user data on this site, and how we use and protect that data after it has been collected. We hope our users can have confidence knowing that the website and its owners are trustworthy. In the context of this document, "user data" (or simply "data") means any sensitive or personally identifiable information, such as address, location, phone number, credit card number, passwords, etc. The collection and usage of this data strictly conforms to the following guidelines:
Collection
- All user data collected on our website is submitted voluntarily by the user, usually through some type of form. We won't use any technical mechanisms (e.g. JavaScript, browser plugins, etc.) to secretly collect user data. We will always use clear and straight-forward language when we are requesting data from users. This means we won't use any phishing, social engineering, or misleading/deceptive user experience techniques to force users to give up their data.
- We will only request the minimum amount of data that is required for the purpose(s) for which it is being collected.
- Our entire site is protected with industry-standard HTTPS (also known as TLS, or transport layer security), which means the connection between your browser and our web server is fully encrypted. This helps you verify that you are connected to the correct site (and not a fake phishing site that is impersonating our site) and makes it very difficult for an unauthorized third party to view and/or modify the data sent between your computer and this site.
- Our web server may automatically record general log information whenever a user visits the site. This information includes the URL requested, the date and time of the request, the IP address that requested it, general data about the user's browser/computer (such as preferred language or screen size), along with other similar information. This information is only used for internal review to perform routine site maintenance. We do not consider this data sensitive as it cannot be used to personally identify our users.
Usage
- Whenever a user submits data, we will always provide details explaining how we intend to use the data once it has been submitted.
- Data that is collected will only be used for the purpose(s) for which our users agreed to upon submission.
- After we have finished using it, the data will be permanently deleted from our database. We will make every attempt to do this as soon as possible, but the data may be retained for a reasonable period of time for general record keeping purposes, or to comply with legal requirements.
- Data will always be stored in an encrypted format using industry-standard cryptographic protocols. We reserve the right to make additional copies of data in the form of file backups in order to prevent data loss, but these backup copies will be encrypted as well.
- We will never sell or distribute our users' data to third parties.
Miscellaneous
- We do not use any form of cookies or advertisements on the site, and we never send any form of spam.
- Occasionally, we may use pop-up windows on the site, but only to display relevant information (not advertisements) when it is more convenient or user-friendly to display it in a new window.
- We have appropriate security measures in place at our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of data that we have collected from our users.
- Users can contact privacy@americanmusicstandard.com and request to see all of the data about them which might be stored in our database. Upon request, the user can choose to have all or part of this data permanently deleted.
- Any data stored in our database may be disclosed to government authorities when legally required to do so.
- Our website may contain third-party content or link to external websites. We are not responsible for how these third parties collect or use your data. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information. However, when we embed or link to third-party content, we will make a good faith effort to verify that it is free from malware, advertisements, aggressive trackers, and other malicious functionality that may compromise our users' privacy.
