Band Members Come and Go, But Family Lasts A Lifetime

Aug 6, 2013

Hey everyone, we have a very important announcement: We recently learned that Ashton is no longer interested in playing drums for American Music Standard anymore. He will be leaving the band very shortly to pursue other musical interests and non-musical activities. We'd like to take a moment to thank him for all his hard work. Despite juggling various other responsibilities, he has been able to provide his rhythmic skills and knowledge for two albums, several concerts, and countless other projects since joining the band in 2010. Being Ian's brother, he has offered to play as a backup drummer for a few more shows, so there's a chance you might see him again sometime soon. However, at the moment, AMS is uncertain whether we will need him or not.

This may come as a shock to some of our fans who have been following the band since Ashton joined, and there is no doubt that this will be a big transition. However, we have already started our search for a new drummer—In fact, we auditioned another drummer at practice on Sunday. It's too soon to say anything for sure, but it went great for the first rehearsal. We will keep everyone updated as that situation progresses. We have plans to practice with him again this weekend, so we will probably post another update about that (including a picture).

Also, we have one more important announcement about the members of AMS. Watch for that in a few days.
