Learn the Full Story Behind Blues Gone Bad (Yes, There's A Story)
Apr 10, 2013
Like our first album, Blues Gone Bad has an interesting story and concept behind the music. We explain this concept in the booklet that is included with all copies of the album (digital and physical). Until then, here's a short teaser of the concept behind Blues Gone Bad:
"At the root of all American music is the Blues. Starting in the deep South at the end of the 19th century, traditional blues had humble beginnings within African-American communities, originating from old slave spirituals and gospel songs. All they had was a story of pain and a prayer for freedom, and blues became their voice. But it didn't stay that way for long. As the power of blues spread to new musicians over the years, the style began to evolve. They plugged it in, turned it up, and played it louder--this time with more speed, technique, creativity, and conviction. And their stories evolved, too. Many blues players began to sing about heartbreak, regrets, sorrow, and all the lovers who caused it. Even though everyone's story was different, the pain they expressed kept the original allure of blues alive despite its many changes..."
Hopefully that gives you a little hint for what kind of style and sound you can expect from Blues Gone Bad. Of course, that's only the first half of the story, so you'll have to get a copy of the album to see the rest!
